Pastoral Care

You want the best for your child and so do we. You care for your child at home, making sure they feel safe and loved. We care for them during their time at school. To do this well, we need to work together.

The key person who takes care of your child at school will be their Tutor. Your child will see their Tutor everyday, building up a trusting relationship over a long period of time.  You can contact your child’s Form Tutor either by email or by leaving a message requesting a phone call with the school reception.

As well as completing a daily register with your child, our Tutor team works closely with our attendance, safeguarding, SEND and citizenship teams. Tutor sessions support your child to develop as people, with tutor time being a dedicated space in the day for your child to focus on their wellbeing. Your child’s Tutor will encourage them to speak out if they are concerned for themselves or others, to challenge and question, and to be confident in making a positive contribution to our school and wider society.

Each student and Tutor group is attached to a Year Office. Colleagues in this team have oversight of the whole year group and work closely with Tutors. You can contact your child’s Year Office and Pastoral team by email or letter, or by contacting the school reception who will ensure your message will be responded to as promptly as possible.

For your child to be successful in school we will need to work together as a team. As in any relationship, good communication is essential. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s wellbeing at school. We have a wide range of specialist teams that we can call on for help – both inside the school and from outside agencies. Please let us know also about your child’s successes and achievements. We would love the chance to celebrate them with you.
