Smoke Free Hampshire Survey

Hampshire County Council will be undertaking a survey in secondary schools in early 2018 to identify behaviour and attitudes amongst young people in relation to smoking, drinking and drug use.

Previous surveys were undertaken in 2010, 2013 and 2015 as part of an ongoing programme of monitoring risky behaviour amongst young people in Hampshire.  The 2018 survey will inform future prevention and education approaches within schools across the area.

How will the survey be administered?

The survey will be online; it will take each pupil between 10-15 minutes to complete the survey will be carried out during a citizenship lesson.

When will the survey take place?

The survey will run from February and be available until the May half-term.

How will the information be used?

We will use the findings to inform our future prevention programme with young people around smoking, alcohol and drug use, including schools’ curriculum materials.

Will the information be confidential?

The survey will be completed anonymously and the data combined with data from other schools to present an overall report for Hampshire.  Findings for each school will be provided to the school direct. We would also want to stress that the findings for each school are confidential and that no pupil can be identified.

If you have any questions about the research, then please contact Sarah Preece at sarah.preece@hants.gov.uk or phone 02380 383324.
