UPDATE: Cycle Theft

Unfortunately, we are aware of a spike in the number of cycle related thefts within the area and specifically from school.

Around 30 bikes have been stolen since September but most of these in the last 6 weeks of school.

We have taken a range of precautions to help reduce incidents of bike theft including:

  • Working with the police and forwarding relevant CCTV images
  • Educating our pupils about locking their bikes in the correct pounds
  • Investing in developed CCTV coverage
  • Patrolling key locations
  • Upgrading some of the gate locks

Please could we ask for your support in working with us to educate your children on the importance of putting their bike in a locked pound and locking it properly. You may also wish to invest in a high quality lock.

In all occurrences of bike theft, we would encourage parents to report to the police and obtain a crime reference number.

We are working with the safer community team and have asked for them to attend school with their ‘Cycle Coding’ kits. More information about how to keep your bike safely locked, and what to do if it is stolen can be found on the Gosport Community Safety Partnership website at http://www.safergosport.co.uk/cycle-crime/
