What is it like to be a student on an extended diploma course?

Applications for our post-16 Extended Diplomas are still open and we are hosting taster session on 29 and 30 June.

This is an exciting opportunity to meet us and get a flavour of how the Level 3 courses could expand your horizons.

We offer the Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, in partnership with Titchfield Festival Theatre.

We work with industry professionals to help students develop a variety of skills that meet the needs of future employers.

Students with a background in dance, acting or musical theatre are encouraged to apply but we are especially proud of the support we offer for new students and those who may not have previously consider this area of study.

Student Molly, who is about to start her second year of the course, said: “The course has opened up lots of different opportunities for me to get involved in and has massively helped my confidence.

“Having a variety of different units has also helped me to know what I want to do when I leave college and has given me a clearer view of my future within the Performing Arts industry.”

Course leader, Ms Calvert, said: “It has been lovely to watch Molly grow in confidence. Before the course started she was someone who admitted to feeling quite anxious but is now able to perform on stage in front of large audiences and lead and direct as part of a group.”

We also offer the NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity, working with the Andrew Simpson Centre.

Activities are tailored to support students to develop practical, interpersonal and academic skills.

Student Jermaine, has already achieved extra Level 2 qualifications such as Dinghy Sailing and Powerboat because of our partnership with the Andrew Simpson Centre.

He said: “The diploma has given me more opportunities to explore a variety of watersports that I wouldn’t have had an opportunity to try before. It has helped me work on my team building and leadership skills, which will only help with my career in the future.”

Course Tutor, Ms Powell, said: “It has been a real delight to see Jermaine develop this year, he has come on leap and bounds. In terms of leading groups, he is now one of the best on the course!”
