Year 8 Whole Cohort – Closure Wed 2 Dec – Online lesson information

Dear Parents and Carers

RE – Year 8 Whole Cohort

As you will be aware, we are continuing to review our staffing levels and due to ongoing and increased staffing challenges we have reluctantly made the decision to partially close the school  on Wednesday 2nd December  for Year 8 (whole cohort). The decision to do this has not been taken lightly but parents and carers will understand that we absolutely must prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of all students on site. If staffing numbers do not allow us to achieve this, then we are put in a position whereby we cannot have all students in school. Please be reassured, that we are doing our best to limit the times when our students are not on site, but we understand that this can cause difficulty for our families.

In order for us to maintain a quality provision of education for students, we will move to our on-line timetable for Year 8 (please ask your child to check their email for links to the lesson).

Lessons will be available through Google Classroom (timetable and subjects have been emailed to you and your child) with additional work through the Oak Academy.   The situation of learning from home is not yet ideal, but it can be highly effective and is proving invaluable in building a wider set of learning skills in students, so please do encourage your child, seek our support in doing this and link with class teachers as much as possible through Google Classroom.

We will continue to evaluate our staffing levels and ensure we work closely with parents and carers to give as much notice of any further closures should they be required. The school will continue to follow the advice from Public Health England and the Department of Education and keep parents and carers updated.

With our best wishes and thanks for your continued support through these challenging times.
