Highlights from some of our recent co-curricular Performing Arts productions.

COMING SOON…

‘THE WIZARD OF OZ’ – DECEMBER 2022

Following on from last year’s success this year we are working towards a production of  Frank L Baum’s The Wizard of Oz. A magical and fantastical story of living scarecrows, talking lions and a man made of tin who, with the heroine of our story Dorothy, encounters two Wicked witches and a very good witch too. Make sure you don’t miss out on tickets-available from the finance office soon!

Stagestruck

December 2021

Stagestruck was our first performance after the pandemic and it saw all year groups involved in a musical extravaganza devised and created by the performing arts team. It followed the story of three school girls trapped in an abandoned theatre, through every number they discover the joys the theatre can bring and the lessons it can teach us-  what can they learn about life, love and Drama?

Little Shop of Horrors

December 2019

Performed by KS4 and 5 students Little Shop of Horrors is a horror comedy rock musical with music by Alan Menken and lyrics and a book by Howard Ashman. The story follows a hapless florist shop worker called Seymour  who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. Little Shop of Horrors is one of those plays that evokes a lot of memories, it has darkly funny humour and amazing tunes. The play is tongue in cheek, comic, but at its heart it is a love story and one a lot of us can relate to (well apart from the alien, man eating plant bit)!

Our House

December 2018

Based on the music by Madness and written by Tim Firth, Our House is a moral tale that explores the themes of love, family values, growing up, responsibility and dealing with losing the people that shape us. Performed by a cast of pupils and students from every year group this production was amazing fun and enjoyed by all.

Blood Wedding

February 2018

Lorca’s famous tragedy was brought to the stage by our KS4 and 5 students in February 2018. Written in the 1930’s it was seen as innovative and groundbreaking when Lorca presented it to the world. With its contrasts of naturalism and poetic surrealism as directors it conjured amazing visual ideas and many challenges.
