GFM Parent and Carer 2020 Conferences

The Gosport and Fareham Multi Academy Trust is fully committed to prioritising opportunities which enable our pupils to develop resilience, feel confident and be aspirational throughout their time within our schools.

Continuing to build on the success of our Parent Conferences in 2019 we have furthered our work with parents, carers and the wider community, to raise the life chances and improve the future of all our families in Gosport.

We are therefore delighted to announce a number of parental conferences this term, which we hope will be of interest to you.

We look forward to welcoming all of our primary and secondary parents, to all GFM events this academic year and we thank you for your ongoing, continued support. GFM Parent Conference: Brune Park’s Equity Agenda Brune Park’s Executive Lead for Inclusion, Alice Harlan and Assistant Headteacher, Paul Candy, will be sharing their work across the school on developing a culture where everyone feels safe and valued, how staff at the school strive to ensure all students are valued for who they are and are supported to be the best they can be, regardless of race, gender or ethnicity. During this session Alice and Paul will highlight and explore the support young people with different identities at Brune Park receive. Thursday 30 January 6-7pm Brune Park School: Footlights Café
GFM Parent Conference: Alan Kafoor (Edwards Insurance Brokers) Local Gosport resident and Insurance Broker, Alan Kafoor will be hosting an insightful and supportive workshop about the importance of Insurance. Answering your questions on Insurance and busting the myths. Alan has vast years of experience in commercial and charity insurance, he is a member of the Insurance Institute of Southampton and is a lead Insurance Broker for Edwards Insurance. GFM Parent Conference: Department for Work & Pensions The GFM have partnered with the DWP as part of our ongoing commitment to raising the profile for all types of Apprenticeships and Career opportunities. The DWP will be leading this parent conference with a focus on highlighting how employability and transferable skills are vital to the workplace, whilst offering some strategies for you personally and in supporting your children with their future career choices. GFM Parent Conference: Careers Week Conference National Careers week across the GFM will be celebrated with a whole host of activities and seminars from business for our students. Our Parent Conference this week will be hosted by our fantastic Careers & Raising Aspirations Team and will explore with parents the GFM Pathways programme, whilst highlighting the fantastic opportunities within the Local Labour Market in Gosport. GFM Mental Health Awareness & Local Services Conference 2020 Our Mental Health Awareness & Local Services Conference this academic year will be supported by over 15 local providers. The aim of the evening is to give parents/ carers the opportunity to hear from some experts in this field and to hear about what is on offer within the GFM and the wider community for students and our families. Thursday 12 March 6-7.30pm Bay House School: Main Hall & Lower Hall
GFM Parent Conference: Reading & Literacy – Why is it so important? GFM Assistant Headteacher Mustafa Sulo will be leading an interactive session for parents and carers about the importance of reading. During the session Mustafa will share with parents some key reading strategies for supporting your children in their reading and literacy progress from KS2-5.
